You guys, if ever “new year, new you” rang true, it’s 2016 for me. And here’s why…
It started as just the two of us – my now-husband and I – in 2007 running wild on the campus of Indiana University. Life was full of socializing, sleeping and going to class. And even though we both worked extra job(s) and expectations for ourselves, we didn’t have many cares in the world.
After graduation, we both took jobs in Indianapolis and lived at home for several months before we officially joined up and bought a house on a cozy street in a historic neighborhood in 2010. Just a few weeks after move-in, we became three when Sam surprised me with my first furry baby, Rudy – the most beautiful fawn boxer in all the land. I may be biased, but I swear he is.
Anyway, it was the three of us until after we got married and impulsively brought home our second furry baby, Chaz – a St. Bernard mix with an extremely goofy, gentle giant personality – in 2013.
So then there were four, tied in humans vs. dogs. We were pretty complete for the time being, but given that we’ve successfully raised two furry babies (maybe, I’m biased on the “successfully” part, but again, I swear they’re good, healthy pups!), we figured we’d switch it up a bit…
Yep, that’s right. We’re expecting our first HUMAN baby in July 2016. The humans will officially outnumber the furries. However, I’m still not sure we’ll “run the house” as much as we think we will. ?
So new year, new you speaks volumes for me, my husband and my pups. I’m just now past week 14 in my pregnancy and already noticing some big changes – physically, mentally and socially – and major shifts in priorities and interests. I won’t go into those just yet, but you can expect some new material hitting the blogosphere … nursery plans, shopping for baby, maternity style, maybe some personal insight into pregnancy, and much more. Brace yourself (I know I am), because sh*t’s about to get real here. There is so much “adulting” going on that 2016 is going to be one for the books.
With that announcement, let the human parenting games begin!
