Can’t believe it’s been six weeks since we welcomed our little lady into the world. While we were “on watch” for an early delivery from the beginning (due to some potential pregnancy complications), there wasn’t anything that could quite prepare us for when the day actually arrived. Yet, on that full moon in June, she decided it was time.
The last several weeks of pregnancy felt like eternity, but the reality is that it’s really just a “short” 10 months when you know you’re growing an actual human life. Creation is the darndest thing…! They say you kind of forget the misery of pregnancy and labor once the baby arrives, and to a certain degree, that is very true. As awful as I felt at times and as awful as 27 hours of labor is, I’d do it again without question. Tiny humans [who grow up really fast] are by far the great gift, and I’m forever grateful to have experienced such a roller coaster of a journey already.
And so today, I wanted to [finally] introduce you to Zoey – our first [human] baby! We’ve been settling in to parenthood since she arrived while also trying to continue settling in to our new home. They say “sleep when baby sleeps,” but I’m more of a “do home projects while baby sleeps and hope for the best” kind of gal. More on that coming on up…
Anyway, I’ll get to the cuteness that is this bundle of baby. Lana surprised us by coming into town the day we got home from the hospital. She spent four days with us. We had a lot of hang time, but she also was quick to help us out with just about anything we needed while we worried about Zoey. As an added bonus, she captured some sweet shots of Zoey in her first few days home.
We opted for a less traditional, staged newborn photoshoot. I wanted lifestyle photos vs. a ton of posed photos, so most of our photos are in Zoey’s natural setting here and there those first few days. Needless to say, we’re in love. So many heart eyes!
